
As part of the lined up activities to commemorate 2026 World Malaria Day, The FCT-MEP successfully carried out community outreach at Kado fish market field, Kado-Lifecamp with effectively mobilizing residents and stakeholders toward the goal of a malaria-free society. The event successfully combined official advocacy, cultural engagement, and technical health education to create a comprehensive roadmap for community wellness.
Highlights
Unity in Action: Leadership from FCTMEP, Partners, and Traditional Rulers kicked off the day with a call for community-wide vigilance.
Cultural Energy: The Ggbagi Cultural Troops used “edutainment” to deliver life-saving health messages through song and dance.
Expert Education: Targeted sessions covered the “Big Three” (Malaria, HIV, TB) alongside Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) and Environmental Health.
Specialized Focus: Detailed training on SMC (Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention) cycles to protect the most vulnerable.
Hands-on Impact: A live tour of testing/treatment stands and mosquito net demonstrations provided immediate, practical solutions for residents.
Additionally community members were
urges to ensure they get tested before starting any treatment because “every fever may not be malaria”. While malaria testing and treatment is free in all government health care facilities.
