ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DIVISIONS AND SUPPORTING UNITS
DISEASE CONTROL DIVISION:
- Planning, organizing and implementing programmes and activities that will facilitate disease control in the FCT
- Organize the conduct of screening, interventions and community outreach services
- Promote and encourage adoption of Healthy lifestyle among FCT residents
- Conduct mass Drugs Administration in schools and communities against Neglected Tropical Diseases
- Provide Eye Care Services in the Communities of FCT
- Control of Communicable Disease i.e Tuberculosis, Leprosy, Buruli ulcer [TBL & BU, HIV/AIDS and Non-Communicable Diseases i.e Diabetes, Hypertension, Mental health in FCT
ENVIRONMENTAL AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH
- Ensure that standards are not compromised through regular supervision of all regulated premises in accordance with the laws
- Promote and maintain the highest degree of physical, mental and social wellbeing of workers in all occupations
- Protect workers from risks and hazards that adversely affect their Health
- Ensure that FCT residents imbibe the culture of health enhancing lifestyle through Health Promotion/Education and sensitization of FCT residents
- Regular screening and Certification of food vendors/handlers in hospitality industries and other food establishments
EPIDEMIOLOGY
- Integrated Disease Surveillance and Report [IDSR]
- Epidemic preparedness and response
- Outbreak investigation and containment
- Monitoring and Evaluation of Public Health programmes and interventions
- Vaccination of international travellers [Christians and Muslims Pilgrims in line with International Health Regulations [IHR]
- Screening and certification of food handlers/Vendors
- Conduct health research/surveys
- Data management on all Public Health programmes and projects for evidence based and informed decisions
- Conduct community diagnosis to determine the Health status of communities for informed decisions.
Administration
- Ensuring that Staff work with enthusiasm and sustained zeal aimed at getting things done in most effective and efficient manner, which will at the long run translate to the realisation of the Departments objectives.
- Ensure that quality health care services are delivered to the people of FCT at all time for better health outcomes.
Accounts Unit
- Ensure that all financial transactions of the Department are conducted in line with the Extant rules and Regulations and maintain all records of such transactions
- Ensures that proper records of the Departments Internally Generated Revenue [IGR] are always kept
Logistics
- With the establishment of logistics Management Coordinating Unit [LMCU],the drugs store have been moved to Abuja Central Stores [ACMS] where LMCU s domicile
Internal Audit unit
- To ensure financial regulations are strictly followed and adhered to.
- To carefully exam the department and system for accounting and internal control are in place and complied with.
- To carry out regular auditing of the units and divisions of the department
- To regularly monitor, assess and verify items, assets and liabilities
- To regularly verify existence of assets and report all to management
- To carry out ad-hoc assigned tasks by the management
