TRAINING ON THE MENTAL HEALTH GAP ACTION PROGRAMME (mhGAP)

The Mental Health Unit of the Department successfully conducted a three-day training on the Mental Health Gap Action Programme (mhGAP), designed to strengthen and bridge existing gaps in mental health service delivery.

The training focused on enhancing awareness, equipping participants with practical intervention skills, and promoting effective support strategies.

Participants, who are healthcare workers drawn from Bwari and AMAC Area Councils, actively engaged in the sessions and were equipped with the knowledge and tools required to identify, manage, and support individuals with mental health conditions within their communities.

This initiative is expected to enhance service delivery at the grassroots level, as participants are now better positioned to implement community-based mental health interventions, promote early detection, and provide appropriate support, ultimately improving overall mental health outcomes.
