ADVOCACY AND SENSITIZATION ON EYE CARE AND LASSA FEVER

The Eye Care Unit of the Public Health Department, was led on an advocacy visit by the Program Manager by Dr. Goodluck Ehiemere, to the Karshi General Hospital’s Chief Medical Director (CMD), Dr. Sanni Wilfred, to discuss the lineup activities for World Glaucoma. They’re hosting a community outreach with presbyopia screenings and free reading glasses for 40+ residents.

CMD Dr. Wilfred received and welcomed the team as well as appreciated the Public health department for choosing Kasrhi community noting it will go a long way to help the community members. He reached out to the Ward Development Committee (WDC) chairman and community rep to collaborate.

Additionally, the Health Promotion Division team leverages on the visit to raise Lassa Fever awareness, urging hospital staff sensitization via Continuous Medical Education (CME). SBCC materials in English and local languages were shared with the hospital and community leaders for wider outreach.
